Big cousins Alli and Emma holding Kailer.

Great Papa Amstutz.

Cam and Kody came over to meet Kailer. I remember holding both of them when they were just a baby...time flies!

The Saxton Family all dressed up.

Sarah and Greg had us over for a delicious dinner...what a treat!

Sarah and I with our kids...yikes!

Marc, Kailer, and I all traveled home to Michigan for two weeks. We ended up coming home a week ealrier than expected and it was so nice and relaxing to be home. We enjoyed sharing Kailer with all of our friends and family.

One Week Old

It is hard to believe that Kailer is already a week old. Time sure does fly. She spent her first five days in the hospital, but the two we have had at home have been wonderful. The first night was a little rough, as she was up almost every hour with a crying marathon from midnight until 2 a.m. Once we got past that, the succeeding nights have been much more calm. She only got up once in the night and Marc and I are averaging about 6-7 hours of sleep. We can't complain:) Since she was a week old yesterday, we took several pictures (I think we were just looking for an excuse)!

Kailer's First Bath

Thank goodness for grandma.

All clean!

Ahhhhh!

Kailer had her first sponge bath at home today. Luckily, grandma was there to show mom and dad how it is done. She seemed to enjoy it. Afterwards, I put her in an outfit that was way too big for her. She may have been swimming in it, but she sure looked cute!

Welcome Kailer Layne Saxton

Kailer Layne Saxton arrived on September 21st, 2007 at 5:46 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. She missed her due date and my birthday by just a few hours. My water broke at 3:45 a.m. and we managed to take our time and shower before heading to the hospital. I called my parents and they were on their way. We grabbed our bag and headed downstairs to catch a cab. Almost instantly I started to have contractions, which made the cab driver floor it! Luckily for us there was no traffic and the view of the Manhattan skyline coming over the bridge was beautiful. When we arrived at the hospital fifteen minutes later, my contractions were about 2-3 minutes apart and I was 3 cm. Just two hours later I was 10 cm and ready to push. I pushed for about 4 hours, but she was o.p. (facing up rather than down) and refused to budge. When pushing failed, the doctors said I had to have a c-section. They prepped us for surgery and my parents made it just in time for my mother to go in the the operating room with Marc and I. Never having broke a bone, the surgery was quite frightening and not so easy to recover from, but worth every second because of what came from it:) Because I had a c-section, we had to stay in the hospital for four more days. With lots of time on our hands, Kailer was well introduced to the camera! We finally got to go home on Tuesday and Grandma and Grandpa Amstutz drove us home so that we didn't have to take another ride in a taxi. Grandma even stayed behind for the rest of the week to help us out while I recuperated. Marc and I certainly were thankful!

Waddling Through NYC

Marc posing in front of a fountain we stumbled upon...yeah, I made him do it:)

Myself at 35 weeks overlooking Turtle Pond and the Great Lawn from the castle.

Belvedere Castle in Central Park

Marc and I took advantage of the cooler weather this weekend and ventured into the city. We enjoyed a wonderful day walking (although it feels a little more like waddling) through Central Park. Our stops included Strawberry Fields, Belvedere Castle, and every public restroom in the park from 59th to 80th! On our way back to the subway, we even had our first celebrity sighting. As we were walking past Trump International Towers, Shaq got out of a limo and crossed our path as he walked into the hotel less than five feet away! There was no one else around! Apparently I am not cut out for the paparazzi because I wasn't quick enough with my camera.

Preparing for Baby Saxton

Marc had a wonderful time setting up the crib when we got back home from Michigan. I enjoyed watching too!

It looks beautiful with the bedding from Grandma Saxton. Now it just needs a baby...only 5 1/2 weeks to go!

Baby Shower

Marc and I went home last week for the last time until October...boo! No more flying for me until the baby is here:) While we were home, my mom, Sarah, and Nikki all helped throw me a wonderful shower. I am amazed at the amount of stuff we received for such a tiny little person! Our small, one bedroom, NYC apartment just got a little more cramped!
