Memorial Day Visitors

A nice view of Belvedere Castle in Central Park.

Hayleigh and Kailer on top of the castle.

Kailer catching some shut eye. She was such a trooper!

Hayleigh and Kailer at the American Girl Store for tea time.

Walking the notorious Brooklyn Bridge.

Kailer's first visit to the Statue of Liberty.

Posing outside F.A.O. Schwartz...a kid's dream!
.
For the long holiday weekend my mother, Tanna, and Hayleigh all came for a visit. We only had three days, but mangaged to see a lot! We even went to the MOMA and walked the Brooklyn Bridge, which were two things I had never even done. We had such a good time. It was so neat seeing New York City through Hayleigh's eyes and point of view. Everything was "awesome!"

Eight Months Old

Lounging.

Look, you can see my teeth:)

It is hard to believe that Kailer is eight months old already. She is so much fun and is starting to have quite the personality. She is stubborn to say the least...like her dad of course;) She has mastered the army crawl and has even managed to crawl a few times. She mostly just gets on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. She also has begun pulling herself up. We lowered her crib a few weeks ago because we woke up one morning and she was peering over at us. She still only has her two teeth on the bottom and they are so cute to see when she smiles. We can't wait to move home so that all of our family and friends can enjoy watching her grow as much as we do.

Mom's Little Helper

I was trying to fold laundry the other day, but Kailer was determined to keep me from doing so. To keep her from crawling around and me having to play fetch, I put her in the laundry basket. I thought that I would share a few pictures of my little helper.

Enjoying Our New Camera

We got a new camera this week and both Marc and I have enjoyed taking pictures with it. Poor Kailer has had a camera in her face more than usual this week.

We tried a sippy cup for the first time this week. She did alright after a few attempts, but it served better as a toy:)

She is doing so well sitting up now!

Smile! Look closely and you can see her two bottom teeth!

Marc took Kailer to the park and tested the camera outside. What a nice shot of the city from Astoria Park.

Clips of the Week

Prior to this week, Kailer wouldn't sit up for an extended period of time. She has suddenly decided that sitting up is much more fun. She does very well until something catches her eye and she makes a not so graceful 'plop' toward it (as you will see at the end of the video). She is also babbling like crazy, which is why I got the camera out in the first place. Mostly just consonant/vowel blends like ba, ma, and da. It is amazing how she really gets going sometimes like she is actually conversing.

During Kailer's bath this week, she was all laughs. As I was trying to get the last of the soap out of the bottle it was making a noise that Kailer found to be absolutely hilarious. I didn't start recording until about two minutes in and missed the good belly laughs. At any rate her chuckles are extremely contagious. Enjoy!

Veggies!

"Do I have to?"

Our pediatrician recommended starting Kailer off with fruit. I was a little sceptical thinking that she would never eat her vegetables when the time came. We started with veggies this week and it went well. She likes sweet potatoes and carrots, but is slowly warming up to peas and green beans. The veggies do not go down as well as fruit but as long as it is food...she will eat it!

Go Tigers!

All set for the game in her Detroit gear from grandma.

Lets go Tigers!

A view of Monument Park.

A view of the field from our seats.

Marc and I weren't brave enough to sport our Tiger gear, so I put it on Kailer instead. Who is going to say anything to a baby, right? WRONG! Yankees fans will scream obscenities to a baby! Ha. Just one angry fan on our way out...most likely because the Tigers won:) We did however warm up and cheer our team on with the help of our fellow fans next to us.

We had such a good time watching the Tigers beat out the Yankees last night. It was nice to make it to Yankee stadium again, especially since it is the stadium's final season!

Spring Break

Kisses from daddy.

Happy 3rd birthday Joey!

Playing with Joey and Libby.

Emma and Kailer.

All of the Saxton cousins.

Kailer loves playing with anything that is not a toy.

Nonnie and papa have a wonderful park behind their house.

I am not sure who enjoyed the swing more...me or Kailer.

Kailer wearing Ben's camouflage hat. He was so good about sharing his toys! Thanks Ben!

Ben giving Kailer a kiss.

They played so well together. Kailer loves watching and playing with other little kids. We can't wait until we move home and they can play more often.

Kailer didn't like Grandma's tub, so we resorted to taking a bath in the sink.

Grandpa couldn't resist getting her picture on his John Deere.
.
This past week we made our last voyage to Michigan until we are home for good. We had such a great, relaxing time. I am so thankful that my job has so many built in vacations that allow us to come home so frequently. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and Kailer spent lots of time outside. She went to the park for the first time, went on several walks with grandma, played outside with Ben, and went to Kody's baseball game. We are in the final stretch until school is out and look forward to moving home. Kailer had so much fun being around family. We look forward to moving home so that she can spend time with her family more often...and mom and dad can catch a break every now and then:)
